  Suicides at Bethel

  in another thread (i forget which), someone mentioned that somebody committed suicide at bethel.

  is this true and if so, how often does it happen?

  There was an incident I read about 15 years ago or so. I found the account in a book exposing the Watchtower in a Christian Bookstore.

  This was in the 50s or 60s. A foreign sister was serving at beth-hell and apparently had some serious mental issues (sounded bi-polar) and was sent home by beth-hell. She committed suicide by jumping over the side of the ship she was booked on. This account made this suicide out to be a large scandalous cover-up at the time.

  Does anyone know anymore about this? If so please feel free to fill in the details.

  Anything by Joe Bonamassa. He has his own style of Classic Rock/Blues.

  A new release by Omar Kent Dykes (Omar and The Howlers) and Jimmie Vaughan (Fabulous Thunderbirds) called "Jimmy Reed Highway" Its been in constant rotation is my car and home for months. Everyone who hears it wants it.

  And the new Neil Diamond release.

  What a deal!

  i was talking to my neighbor earlier today and he told me his daughter was buying a house.

  the house, a brand new 3 bedroom/2 bath built to energy star standards, has been for sale for over a year.

  it was built by a local low to moderate income housing organization funded with a mix of public/private dollars.

  I fall on Carlos's side of the fence on this one. Me and Mrs LOB work our asses off, have no credit card debt, pay our bills on time and can afford a modest house in a small country village with no services. We are in the 30% Federal tax bracket, and pay a State income and sales tax.

  We buy 3 or 4 year old cars, can't afford a new one . . while the trailer park a few miles down the road is stocked with big new Dodge Rams, Chevy Trucks, a new Dodge Charger and several new Mustangs. If you don't believ me, just follow the bread crumb trail of used disposable diapers and beer cans on the side of the road to the park, can't miss it.

  I did when I was about 40 for a few ( 4 or 5) years instead of taking a golden opportunity to get my BSEE.

  Worst mistake of my entire miserable pathetic existence. Just slightly worse than getting married at 18.

  Because of going back, I lost my two children.

  SusanHere, it is very rewarding. My wife and I do volunteer work in some local soup kitchens during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. We have recieved much more than we give.

  "This I Believe" has long been a favorite stop on the web for me. I almost always come away with something to ponder.

  Kiva.org sounds like a great idea also. I'm gonna check them out, maybe open an account.

  Q: What happens when you block my driveway?

  a: i block your car.. today i was out and about enjoying a rare day off work.

  all was well and i was feeling good and having a good time... then i came home and found this grey honda parked in my driveway blocking me from parking in my garage (the one i pay $70 a month for).

  ok, if asshole wants to block me, i'll block asshole.

  IP_SEC, blocking someone in retaliation for blocking you is not sticking up for yourself. It's retaliation for what might have been an honest mistake. Retaliation leads to confontation. Confrontation can get real bad real quick.

  Been there done that, got my ass kicked by a guy half my size, learned from it.

  Like I said, sophomoric machismo.
